How to Use the Keyword Profitability Calculator

This powerful tool is divided into two parts: Keyword Insights and the Profitability Calculator. Follow these simple steps to build a data-driven case for your next marketing campaign.

Step 1: Keyword Research & Analysis (Keyword Insights Tab)

This is where your journey begins. The goal here is to gather a list of relevant keywords and analyze their collective search volume and average Cost Per Click (CPC).

  1. Enter Your API Key: The tool uses the Keywords Everywhere API to pull live, accurate search volume and CPC data. You’ll need to get an API key from their website and paste it into the designated field. This is crucial for accurate analysis.

  2. Choose Your Input Method:

    • Manual Entry: If you already have a list of keywords, select this option and paste them in, separated by commas.

    • Generate with AI: If you want to discover new keyword ideas, select this option. Enter a single “seed keyword” (e.g., “custom software development”), and our Gemini-powered AI will generate a list of closely related, long-tail keywords for you to use.

  3. Select Your Country: Choose your target geographic market from the dropdown menu for localized data.

  4. Analyze Keywords: Click the “Analyze Keywords” button. The tool will fetch the data for your chosen keywords and display a results table with individual metrics, along with the Total Monthly Volume and Average CPC for the entire group.

Step 2: Forecast Your Profitability (Profitability Calculator Tab)

Once you’re happy with your keyword analysis, it’s time to see if they can meet your business goals.

  1. Apply Data: In the results section of the “Keyword Insights” tab, click the “Apply Data to Profitability Calculator” button. This will automatically send your keyword volume and CPC data over to the calculator and switch you to the next tab.

  2. Enter Your Business Metrics: This is where the magic happens. To get a truly personalized forecast, you need to input your own business numbers:

    • Desired Monthly Orders: How many customers do you want to acquire?

    • Average Order Value ($): What’s the average value of a sale?

    • Profit Margin (%): What is your profit margin before ad costs?

    • Conversion Rates (%): Input your website’s lead conversion rate and your sales team’s closing rate.

  3. Review Your Projections: Instantly, the calculator will update with your Profitability Projections. You’ll see your estimated monthly ad cost, the number of clicks and leads you’ll need to hit your goal, and your Estimated Monthly Profit after all costs are deducted.

Step 3: Check Your Market Feasibility

The final section provides a critical reality check. The Market Feasibility Check compares the Required Search Volume (the number of impressions you need to achieve your goals) against the Actual Search Volume available for your chosen keywords.

  • If the actual volume is sufficient, you’ll get a green light, confirming your goals are realistic within this market.

  • If your required volume exceeds what’s available, the tool will warn you, suggesting that you may need to target more keywords or adjust your goals.
